Sorsogon City is one of the recipients of the 2022 National Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Performance Awards and is the lone city in the whole Bicol Region to bag such  prominent recognition.

City Mayor Ma. Ester E. Hamor personally received the honor at the Tent City, The Manila Hotel, 1 Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila on December 13, 2022 along with City Local Government Operations Officer Mabel E. Morano. As national awardee, Sorsogon received a cheque amounting to One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P100,000.00) during the launching of Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program on January 27, 2023 at Camp Simeon Ola in Legazpi City. This will serve as Anti-Drug Abuse Council Incentive Fund.

Aside from Sorsogon City, the municipalities of Barcelona and Bulusan in Sorsogon were also recipients of the prestigious award. Magarao, Camarines Sur, completed the four awardees from Bicol Region.

The 2022 National ADAC Performance Awards were given to cities and municipalities that passed the 2021 ADAC Performance Audit and in recognition of their efficient implementation of the government’s activities against illegal drugs. Mayor Hamor congratulated the Sorsogon City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCADAC) and the PNP for a job well done.
