The Department of Agriculture, through the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development Mechanization, conducted a training course on the Operation and Maintenance of Rice Machinery on April 22 to 28, 2023 in Sorsogon City.

 

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the beneficiaries on the operation and maintenance of farm machinery and in the reduction of post-harvest losses through the use of improved practices, application of farm machinery and new technology.

 

Mayor Ma. Ester E. Hamor thanked the trainors for coming to Sorsogon City, adding that the training will enhance learning on the use and generation of rice machinery, thereby increasing yield in both farm production and income of farmer-beneficiaries.

 

The training consisted of a two-day lecture and two-day hands-on exercises of rice machinery, such as four-wheel tractor, riding-type transplanter, walk-behind transplanter and combine harvester.

 

Two participants from various farmers’ associations in the province of Sorsogon participated in the training course.
