With about 185 closed circuit televisions (CCTVs) positioned in strategic places, the capability of the City Public Safety Office and the SK3 on 24/7 monitoring, surveillance and response has significantly increased. Acting on the directive of City Mayor Ma. Ester E. Hamor, the SK3, headed by Arnel H. Anchinges exerts efforts to consciously ensure the safety, peace and orderliness throughout the city. Anchinges added that CCTVs with sound are on their radar for procurement.
Recently, the SK3 has acquired television installed with an app showing the real-time traffic situation in and around downtown Sorsogon City. The equipment is similar to that being used in other highly urbanized cities.
Jasper T. Anchinges, Traffic Aide II, demonstrated the function of new equipment when visited in their monitoring room. The online touch-screen television unit contains street maps that change color depending on the volume of traffic. He added that more apps will be added to the unit to maximize its usefulness.
Mayor Hamor said that presence of the CCTVs in and around the Sorsogon City commercial district has yielded positive results as the SK3–which stands for Seguridad, Kaayusan, Katranquilohan asin Kauswagan–is is among the Ten-Plus-One Agenda of her administration.
