In support of Sorsogon City Mayor’s ongoing agricultural initiatives, the City Agriculture Office proudly celebrated the graduation of a new group of farmers who completed the Farmers Field School (FFS) Season-Long Training on Organic Vegetable Production.
The formal graduation ceremony took place on Friday, February 7, 2025, with City Agriculturist Ms. Adeline Detera and City Administrator Atty. Mark Gerald Guirindola, who represented the City Mayor, leading the event. They were joined by members of the 8th City Council, all of whom recognized the remarkable achievements of the 28 dedicated FFS graduates from Barangay Marinas in the Sorsogon East District.
The intensive and engaging six-month training program, which ran from July to December 2024, saw the active participation of community members, including mothers, barangay officials, and the Barangay Captain of Marinas. Throughout the course, the participants gained essential skills in organic farming, from proper planting techniques to seedling care, which are crucial to promoting sustainable agriculture in the region.
Their hard work and commitment have significantly contributed to strengthening the agricultural sector in Sorsogon City, empowering local farmers with the knowledge to implement eco-friendly farming practices and enhance food security in their community.
