Guidelines and Mechanics 

  1. REGULATIONS AND FORMAT
  • The Tournament is in Grand Prix Chess Format.
  • GP Series shall consist of five Grand Prix tournaments (hereinafter referred to as GP tournaments) held between February and October 2024.
  • The tournaments are scheduled in February, April, June, August, and October.
  • Each player shall participate in all of five GP tournaments unless they qualified for the Grand Finals in December.
  • Grand Prix points shall be distributed as follows:

  • In each GP tournament every player scores GP points according to his/her position in the final standings.
  • To qualify for the Grand Finals the Player must have to meet the average of Ten (10) GP points.
  • All participants shall be ranked 1500 by their ratings (unless they have their own rating in NCFP), and according to the arrangements in Alphabetical order of Their Name.
  • Each GP Tournaments is categorized in Elementary Boys, Elementary Girls, High School Boys, High School Girls.
  • In Grand Finals all qualified player must have round Robins Chess Format in their own category.

 

  1. SCORESHEETS

At the end of each standard game the players’ original scoresheets are to be given to the Chief Arbiter and Deputy Arbiter, who shall forward them to Tournament Director. Refusal of either player to sign the scoresheets may be penalised. After the players have signed the scoresheets, the Arbiter countersigns to confirm the results.

 

  • PLAYERS CONDUCT
  • The dress code shall be strictly observed for the tournament and all the events.
  • No players with sleeveless undershirt, shorts, slippers, or inappropriate dress shall be allowed in a playing venue.
  1. TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND ARBITER
  • The Tournament Director has to ensure the proper pairing in each Tournament, and validating the final result of each game.
  • During play either the Chief Arbiter or his/her Deputy shall be present in a playing area.
  • The Deputy Chief Arbiter performs also functions of the Fair-Play Officer.
  1. PLAYING CONDITIONS
  • The Anti-Cheating Protection Measures for Level 1 events shall be applied.
  • Except with the permission of the Tournament Director, only the players, the arbiters and stewards are allowed in a playing area. A player may communicate with an arbiter or a steward.
  • The players are not permitted to bring in the playing area a telephone, technical and other equipment extraneous to play, which may in any way disturb or upset their opponents. The Chief Arbiter decides what constitutes extraneous equipment disturbing the opponent.
  • During the playing session, a player may leave a playing venue only with the permission of the Chief Arbiter and only if he/she is accompanied by one of the arbiters. In case of this rule violation, the current game is declared lost by the player and the Chief Arbiter has the right to disqualify the player from the tournament.
