Core Shelter Assistance Project Fund Released and Distributed

It’s like “manna” from heaven for Sirangan informal settlers when they received “pro bono”,  the core shelter assistance amounting to P32 million from DSWD and the housing lots at the San Lorenzo Relocation Site, Barangay Bibincahan, from the City Government representing the first 200 of the 500 housing units of the entire project. In addition, the City Government will handle site development and provide skilled workers and other technical personnel who will be working closely with the relocatees who will also be assisting them under the “Cash for Work” scheme. The beneficiaries were elated to recieve this “gift” from Director Arnel A. Garcia (DSWD R-V) and Mayor Sally A. Lee during the awarding ceremony last April 11, 2017 at the lobby of the City Hall which was also attended by City Administrator Marilyn D. Dimaano, CSWDO Head Josie Jadie, Ms. Marites Quismorio (DSWD Section Chief), Tito D. Fortes (CPMU), Ms. Lina Jimenez (Housing & Urban Development) and other guests and staff.

On behalf of the Sirangan beneficiaries, Mr.Rommel Jamisola, President of the Sirangan Neighborhood Association for Shelter Assistance (NASA), expressed their profound gratitude for the rare opportunity and promised to cooperate with authorities to facilitate the completion of the housing project which can withstand 220 kph wind velocity. On his part, Director Arnel Garcia reminded the City Government to expedite the submission of appropriate documents for the approval of the 300 housing units still pending and appealed for a “graft-free” volunteerism among the recipients and no deviation from the original core shelter designed by Engr. Pedro Cabrera. Completion of the core shelter project is expected within the year  through the “Bayanihan” spirit,  after which the completed units shall be raffled off among the beneficiaries during the inauguration and blessing of the housing project.
